Medical Services
Clinical services using a preventive approach are available. These services include:
- Comprehensive medical assessments for infants, children and adolescents by one of our physicians
- Referral of patients to specialists who have an interest in meeting the needs of individuals with Down syndrome
- Screening by our developmental occupational therapist
- Collaboration between our medical staff and the patient’s primary care physician
Family Support
The Eastern PA Down Syndrome Center:
- Provides information about Down syndrome to new families
- Assists families in locating medical, educational, recreational and social services
- Connects families that have similar medical and educational needs
- Provides networking opportunities for families through our annual social events
Resources and Information
The Eastern PA Down Syndrome Center:
- Has a lending library of books, videos, DVD’s and periodicals
- Provides current information about Down syndrome to families and professionals
- Maintains a file of articles on issues relating to Down syndrome
- Publishes a quarterly newsletter
- Has a current resource book( specialists/service providers) including contact information for all counties throughout Pennsylvania
Professional Training
Since the Eastern PA Down Syndrome Center practices a unique, comprehensive approach to care, the center provides training for pediatric and family medicine residents, therapists, nurses, and service providers.
