Since 1995, the Buddy Walk® has been a beacon of hope and awareness, lighting the way for inclusivity and understanding for individuals with Down syndrome. Every October, during National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, communities across the country come together to celebrate, advocate, and raise crucial funds for organizations like the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center (EPDSC).
It’s a vibrant celebration of community, inclusivity, and the unwavering spirit of the Down syndrome community. Join us as we:
- Raise awareness: Educate the community about Down syndrome and dispel myths and misconceptions.
- Celebrate achievements: Recognize the remarkable accomplishments of individuals with Down syndrome and showcase their talents and abilities.
- Build connections: Foster a sense of belonging and support for families and individuals with Down syndrome.
- Fundraise for essential programs: Your contribution will directly support the EPDSC’s mission of empowering individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential.

Trail Tether Design Contest
Show off your creativity and help design our next Trail Tether!
Contest Guidelines
- Create an original design using the official Design Entry Form.
- Designs should represent the Down syndrome community, the Eastern Pennsylvania Down Syndrome Center (EPDSC), our mission, and/or the Lehigh Valley Buddy Walk.
- Each design must be submitted with a completed Release Form.
- You may submit your design by:
- Mail to the EPDSC office (3895 Adler Place, Suite 135 Building A, Bethlehem PA 18017)
- Dropping it off at the EPDSC office
Submission Deadline
All entries must be received no later than Monday, August 31.
What Happens Next?
- A panel of judges will select one winning design after Labor Day.
- The winning design will be professionally prepared for production and featured in promotional materials.
- Trail Tethers featuring the winning design will be available for pre-order at the Buddy Walk and online throughout October.
- Production will begin in November based on pre-orders.
- The winning artist will be recognized in EPDSC and Trail Tether marketing and promotional materials, including a press release.
