Parent to Parent Mentor Program
Our Parent-To-Parent Mentor Program connects you with a “veteran” parent or caregiver to support you through the unique journey of raising a child with Down syndrome. Our mentors have professional training and are the “experts” in a variety of topics such as:
- Therapies
- Extended Hospital Stays
- Oxygen Support
- BIPAP/CPAP
- Pumping/Breastfeeding
- Leukemia
- Down Syndrome Regression Disorder
- Menstruation
- Special Olympics, Dance, Gymnastics and other after school activities
- Potty Training
- Self-Talk
- Dental Care and Concerns
- Making Friends
- Feeding Concerns
- Building Independence
- Sports: Bike Riding, Skiing, etc
- Traveling with a child who has Down syndrome
- Healthy Habits/Exercise
- Education
- Medical conditions such as: Thyroid Issues, Graves Disease, Epilepsy, Complete AV Canal Heart Defect, Sleep Apnea, Asthma, GERD, Esotropia
